Memory Card

A chip card without processor, i.e. not a true smart card. Also used for data storage devices of the type being standardised by the American PCMCIA and the Japanese JEIDA organisations. This second type of card was originally a memory-only storage device in the shape of a thick bank card, but has now evolved to include, for example, receiving faxes.
