The IDTechEx awards recognise company development and success across the topics of IDTechEx's conference. With a record number of entries in the two wearable technology categories this year, the competition was heated with an extremely high standard across all applicants. The awards were announced on the evening of Wednesday April 27th at the IDTechEx show.
Best New Material or Component Development for Wearable Technology
Winner: Eeonyx corporation, with their novel conductive coating for metamaterials. With applications across medical/healthcare, consumer wearables and into environmental use, our judges commented that Eeonyx's sensor materials would help to enable the "Internet of Me". By making sensors using this material part of everyday life, information could be user-customised, allowing greater decision making around healthcare decisions and beyond.

Best New Wearable Device
Winner: Epson Europe, for their Moverio BT300 smart glasses. With their new consumer-aimed product, Epson have created a product that can start to fill the promise that Google Glass started in commercial and healthcare markets in particular. Our judges commented directly that they were already aware of many healthcare professionals that want and need smart eyewear products like this for their day-to-day job. They also outlined excellent applications in entertainment, and finally in consumer entertainment, commenting that they "would love a pair for watching movies on a plan or when working out"!
